Polygon’s Heimdall V2 Mainnet Experiences Temporary Outage Due to Consensus Bug
Polygon's blockchain encountered a brief disruption on Wednesday as its Heimdall V2 LAYER suffered a one-hour outage starting around 9:30 AM UTC. The incident stemmed from a suspected consensus bug triggered by a validator's exit, though the Bor layer—responsible for block production—remained fully operational.
Network validators temporarily lost communication capabilities during the outage, but Polygon confirmed no transactional disruptions or data loss occurred. "Block production on the Bor mainnet was uninterrupted throughout the downtime," stated a network representative. Explorers have since resynced with accurate chain data.
Post-recovery, some RPC nodes experienced synchronization delays, with Polygon actively collaborating with providers to restore full functionality. The network maintains its 24/7 uptime record despite these technical hiccups.
